Brno zg47 7x57 mm

I recently restocked a ZG47. The inletting is virtually identical to a M98. The exception is that the trigger on the ZG is quite a bit larger than the typical 98 trigger so more stock material must be removed for a good fit.

Mine's a .30/06, and its on my short list rifles that will never to be sold; funny how that list is comprised mostly of Brnos and CZs. Make sure you get an NECG ghost ring to compliment the optics.

Something hinky about that case in the action Mike?

I had considered starting a push feed vs CRF thread, and in anticipation of that, I took a series of pictures to show how a CRF action strips rounds from the magazine. This rifle cycles like butter, and I've never experienced a failure to feed with it, even though the photo looks a little off, but I chose it because its the best one I have of that rifle with the NECG sight.

My newest favorite rifle is my ZG-47. It started out as a .30-06 with a broken stock but is now a 9.3X62 in a new stock. Bill Leeper did the barrel swap. Part of the job was profiling the McGowan barrel blank to match the Brno profile and installing original banded iron sights from an unusable ZG barrel I had found.#

The Leupold VariX III 1.75-6 is mounted in QD rings from Alaska Arms LLC.#

Boomer, I intend on putting a NECG Ghost ring sight on this rifle. Can you tell me which front sight insert you used in your setup?

I kept the original front sight but used the NECG Patridge brass faced blade, unfortunately its a poor fit in the ZG-47 base, and it looks a bit ugly, but at some point in time I might swap out the original barrel band for a NECG barrel band. If I consider any of my rifles worth a Ralph Martini upgrade, its this one.

No, the neck/shoulder area of the case looked strange. I can see that the case is about 1/16" of bolt travel away from popping under the extractor. Just thought something looked off around the neck.

Looky thinkin' I've lost me marbles!

Man, that is pretty much everything I like in a rifle right there, and it's even a 9.3x62!
Superb.
Just needs checkering.

1945 Brno

The pre-zg47 Brno sporters are even nicer ...handle better and feel a lot lighter. This is my virtually new fullstock Brno 21-F (22-F?) made in 1945. The serious Brno collectors tell me that its the earliest known post-war Brno sporter. No way to scope it without drilling it though.

I don't generally like full stock rifles, but that is one nice firearm!

Why would you want to scope it though?

With the charging bridge for stripper clips, and the iron sights, it makes a nice fast-loading, small bore express rifle.

Relax, I didn't say I was going to drill it, just that there is no way to mount a scope without doing just that...and obviously a lot of people thought you should mount a scope on these carbines, because a couple of years after it was made Brno modified the same action and came out with the zg47, with its integral scope mounts.
