Hey all!!! Well i ended up purchasing a BRNO ZKK 601 in 308.... Ive been curious about the twist rate. Ive looked online for the info and there is no info to be found anywhere... I read on another form that is around the 1-8"... I did my own test trying to push a "tight" cleaning rod through and marked it with 1 full rotation and the results were somewhere inbetween 1-8" and 1-10"... Im guessing its 1 in 8 and if thats the case it should shoot 180gr bullets very nicely i hope...

Ive loaded up 180gr sierra pro hunters ontop of 41.3 of Benchmark all being ignited by a Federal Match Primer.. Im thinking this will prove good for moose out to 300.. if it shoots accurate.. does anyone have any good loads i could try.. Any info would be of great help!!!

Thanks so much
Josh

I seriously doubt the twist rate in you 601 is 1-8.

Your method of measurement should be pretty good if you were careful about marking the rod.

I have a 601 in 30-06 and it has a 1-10 twist rate. actually, just slightly under 1-10 but close enough.

That twist rate will stabilize just about any bullet weight from 110gr to 220gr, as well as the VLD designs.

Many late model 308Win and 30-06 barrels are 1-12 and even they will stabilize 200 grain bullets.

Your load sounds like a good one.

For moose I have found a 180 gr bullet through the boiler room works well every time. They are not hard to hit or hard to kill. As usual, it is 95% shot placement.

Thanks Bearhunter and Ganderite!

So since my barrel is about 1-10" i should be right on line with 180's. It will be a week or two until I get time to go and try these loads i made.. Now would the gameking be a better bullet choice or somthing along those lines? im having a hard time finding more pro hunters but I can find just about any other bullet available but those. I seen that Varget could give me a bit more velocity but i dont think the moose will really know the difference of the extra velocity, im just thing about the temp difference of now and then and what poweder would be better.. Both are extreme powders but im new to benchmark where i know how to work with the Varget.
Thanks alll again
Josh
