Hi there!
As a project towards my recently completed master's degree, in the winter of 2016 I put up a practical marksman challenge. Despite the incredibly retarded timing of winter in January and February, it had reasonably good participation (250+ people!!) and I thought it was a tonne of fun. Enough fun that I've been recently reminiscing and thought that it would be a great idea to throw it out there again now that summer is here and folks have easier access to the various ranges and secret crown land shooting venues scattered across the country.
So how about the Brobee 2017 Practical Marksman Challenge?
Course of fire as follows:
10 rounds fired from a distance of 100 yards:
Target: an 8 inch circle. Downloadable versions you can print off on an 8.5x11 letter paper can be found here.
Scoring criteria:
How many hits do you have on the 8 inch plate?
How long did it take you? (measured between the first rifle report and the last)
How to calculate your score: ((#Hits*100)/(time(seconds)^0.33))*0.5
Or, send me your time and hits, and I will calculate and send your score back to you.
See how well you shoot your rifle relative to others! Post your results in this thread, or if you're embarrassed or just plain value your privacy, please please PLEASE confidentially send me your score & time as well as a few details about your rifle (caliber, action type, sight type) and I will compile a database to generate and share a distribution of all the results submitted. You can also submit your results from the submit page at ww w.rifleman.ca
One of the things I enjoyed the most about my previous challenges was seeing pics of folks with their rifles at their local shooting places. I'll start things off with a submission post of my own....
Thanks a TONNE for your participation! I can't wait to see how other folks do, what types of rifles guys are running, and where they like to shoot.
Cheers,
Brobee
