Brock Lesner Charged in Alberta

I think he's gonna get it for the tag but I don't know if they can prove meat spoilage. I think that charge was for the hide. I could pack the meat out in a backpack that size if it was deboned on that hillside. Plus he said "horns", thats all that might have been in that sack, never did see the actual head.

No need to recover the hide...I suspect that was just poor reporting in the newspaper.

So (I did a little googling) it may not be the mule deer (in the youtube video link) that is the problem. Apparently he shot a whitetail on the same hunt and there is question as to who had the tag and when/how they got it and what happened to THAT animal.

Quite the lack of detail in that article.

He did shoot a whitetail on the same hunt. No idea about licencing though.

Yeah no kidding. They are both steroid tanks..

Valsquas dispatched him easily but got demolished by Dos Santos..

If Lesnar wins he might have a serious chance against DJS.

I would really hate to see that fool champ again...

Overeem has passed tests in his last 2 Strikeforce fights, some guys just have good genetics. Lesnar is no longer a juicer as UFC is very tight on juice testing, as he weighs in at 265 limit. Unlike his WWE days when he was 315. Overeem will destroy Lesnar

Go check some of Overeem's fights from 10 years ago.........60 lbs lighter....that kind of mass isn't EASY to put on.....not saying he juiced but it is pretty obvious.

According to another paper, that was the problem. The whitetail was found at the taxidermist with no tag, and they followed the trail from there.

Could be. Funny they never kept the whitetail hush hush though. Hopefully the truth comes out in court. Do you happen to have a link to that report?

Is this hunt meant for a TV show or some such, kinda like the girl that shot the 2500yd, elk and had never fired a rifle before?? If so, how many more have to get busted before we give all these shows the boot... Dis-regard this rant if it isn't TV hunting...

If he did in fact haul out 150lbs of meat I'm not sure what the deal would be. That deer he shot would've weighed about 200lbs at the locker. (no head, hide, or lower legs).

So, yeah, about 150lbs of meat. ??? I'm not sure what the problem is.

I agree, I also dont see how you can prove he didnt tag the deer immediately..imo some ones just got a hard on for him, throwing up charges that cant be proved.

I think its more of an add? I've seen him in 2-3 simliar to this with archery, and bullet brand and something else. I dont see how its a tv hunting when they are all 7mins and less, ones only a 1min 45sec. I could be wrong though, just my guess.

He's a goof but his guide should also be slammed if there is proven neglect in tagging or neglect of "edible" meat. Just in case he lifted backstrap and a couple of choice cuts only. There will be more of this story to come out. Likely should be fined for that degree of ugly.

WTF? Hunting with an outfitter, shooting a deer with no tag, and then bringing it to a taxidermist still with no tag? If that is true, they both (Lesnar and the outfitter)need to give their heads a shake.

Calgary Herald:

Ultimate fighter Brock Lesnar has been charged with illegal hunting practices after a November 2010 hunting trip to southern Alberta.

Lesnar, along with a guide he had hired, have each been charged by Alberta Fish and Wildlife officers with three counts of unlawful possession of a wildlife (a whitetail deer), wastage of edible flesh (of a mule deer) and failure to immediately affix a tag to an animal.

The incident happened on Nov. 19, 2010.

He was supposed to appear in court today in Medicine Hat but it was adjourned until Jan 19 for election and plea.

The case came to the attention of authorities after an inspection of a taxidermist in Lethbridge.

“A whitetail deer was found in the possession of the taxidermist and was not tagged and as a result of that an investigation ensued,” said Sustainable Resource Development spokesman Darcy Whiteside.

Lesnar, an American, needed a guide to go hunting in Alberta.

“It is the responsibility of both the hunter and the guide to follow the regulations as it relates to hunting,” said Whiteside.

The maximum penalty for each charge is a $50,000 fine and a year in prison.

with respect to the video link first posted; it could not be his first trip out or alternately he must have made another trip to the animal because I noticed that neither one was carrying his gun. I suppose that the gun was left where he shot from but that means going back to the video to see if the took the gun to the animal after killing it.
I was not impressed that the guide is not packing anything out

cheers mooncoon

What???? That article is from the STAR !!! How could it not be 100% true and verified!!!:p

It never ceases to amaze me the number of "hunters" that are so quick to jump on the bandwagon when a celebrity hunter gets charged.... He's been charged, not convicted.. You may not like him for whatever reason, but the video posted shows him taking the shot, being respectful of the animal, not whoop whooping like a bunch of show hosts do, and packing out meat on his own back... Also not what other hosts would do. Geez cut the guy some slack..

Exactly! He's far from one of my favorites but until all the info is out and the dust has settled, like anyone else, he's entitled to the benefit of the doubt.
