I broke the lower barrel band spring a while ago and I am looking for a replacement. I attempted a Mickiver of 2 zip ties in the area but after shooting the rifle today for the first time since the problem this is sorely lacking. The wood cover moved forward about 1 inch with 20 shots fired. I could not even hit paper at 100yards, no idea where the rounds were going.

Where can I find a spare spring now? any retailers selling them? and gunnutter have a stash or parts rifle they would be looking to part out a spring for?

Its a shame its an otherwise all matching 1939, would be fun to get it working again and not deligate it to parts rifle category for my other pigs.

Mosin Nagant 91/30 Lower/Rear Barrel Band Spring

Are you talking about the stock spring at the muzzle.........I may have a spare laying around.......please clarify......Harold

the band which you depress to remove the rear ring band when breaking down the rifle. I'm not sure how it affect accuracy but after a few shots the barrel cover had slid 1 to 2 inches forward and had to be pushed back. This can't be a good thing. I broke it in my first take down of the rifle. I attempted to wiggle it out to strip the stock and the metal piece that inserts into the wood broke off. In the rest of my tear-downs I just left the barrel band springs in place during the stock degreasing and treatment process. There are two barrel bands on a russian mosin, each are held by a spring. I broke the one closest to the receiver.

I just ordered some from Russia $18. Not reproductions original WW2 band springs. Russians are good ebayers, then sent me mount and scope with no problems.
