Broken buffer

Just so you guys know, Colt Canada uses excellent buffers that do not have a roll pin. They've been used in C7A2s and C8A3s for over 15 years now without a problem. Even with a roll pin his buffer would have still been completely destroyed.

Your rifle is overgassed and destroyed your buffer because of how fast and hard that buffer was hitting the back of your receiver extension. It happens.

The smashed buffers might not be an over gas issue.. Maybe the buffer springs supplied, isn't the right spring rate?

I took my SLR out into the bush for a bit of plinking, when I noticed a rattle in the buttstock. Didn't shoot it. Brought it home and took it apart to notice that the buffer bumper was off and the weights were rattling around in the buffer tube. The aluminum on the buffer was flared at the end, which is why the bumper came off.

My questions are: What caused this and how do I solve it?

I suspect the buffer is being forced into the buffer tube a bit too forcefully, and it stretched the aluminum out. Would a heavier buffer be the solution? As far as I can tell, there is only one "standard" spring to use, but a whole bunch of different buffers. I was using a standard carbine which I understand is the lightest out there. I'm thinking an H2 weight might work?

I'm running a mid-length gas tube on an 18.6" barrel if that makes a difference.

Dear Kinthelt,
I'm sorry to see that your buffer fell apart. If you email/PM us, or post your order number so we can identify you, we'll be glad to make it up to you.

Just had one of these tna buffers shut a guy down on a course yesterday. Fell apart in the same way. Junk.

Saw this happen in the middle of a class yesterday. The worst part about, it is the interior dimensions of the tube are also different, and wouldn't accept a standard buffer. We had to swap lowers to get the gun back up, buy quality!

Already have a replacement buffer. Fits fine.
