I broke the toggle links on my challenger press. They are made of some kind of cast aluminum or white metal. I ordered some upgraded parts from Lee Precision that are supposed to be made of steel. Hope they arrive before my hunting season.

Has anyone had a similar experience or luck repairing their press?

Not a real common problem but it does happen on occasion with the Lee presses especially resizing larger caliber cases. The new parts should fix the problem.

if you look do some searching , there are " brazing rods " made to repair aluminum and " pot " metal .

i've used them to repair aluminum rads and ac condensors , and i can't see what they wouldn't work on your press .

you clean the peice up , warm it up with a propane torch with mapp gas , or a oxy acetylene , then melt the rod into it and keep warming it till it starts to melt / flow into the broken piece .

just be careful , with aluminum , the difference in melting temps bewteen the rod and aluminum is very close...... meaning too much heat can cause a pile of melted aluminum .

Just email Lee with a picture of the broken parts, tell them to send both pieces (if one breaks the other is probably bent....mine was) and they will show up at your door free of charge.

Not to tell you your business, but if it were me, eye'd replace it with a Rockcrusher and
live happily ever after.
Sucks to be held for ransom.

Rockcrusher-made in China
LEE-made in the USA

The box my RCBS press came in says
"Omark Industries, Oroville, California, 95965"
I think that is in the U.S. of A.
Didn't read Made in China anywhere on the box or press.
Maybe it's soooo old, well it has all the original parts on it
as well.
If it ever gives me any problems or holds me for ransom,
eye'll upgrade it to the American Lee built product.
Yup, that's a promise zuke. ;)

My Rockchucker says CHINA on the casting and made in China on some small parts. The box says USA. I have been to the RCBS (Huntington) building in Oroville. It's a warehouse. Who cares where it's made, long as it works. I have a challanger that crapped out too, the tie bolt was loose in the linkage and one side broke. Tried to tig it but the metal kept blowing away with the slightest heat. Lee sent me the parts, but they are still in the box. Mark
