Good day all,
So I picked up my new non restricted VZ-58 in 5.56mm from the post office yesterday, and put a 11 rounds through it for kicks.
I went to take it out today again, and click - no bang. Nothing on the primer.
Upon disassembly, I find that the firing is broken.
Questions:
1. Is this rifle known for breaking firing pins when dry-firing? Should I just avoid doing this in the future? I have heard that there is the potential, so I tend to use snap caps in other guns (but not always), but don't have any in .223/5.56 yet.
2. Anyone else had this problem? Couldn't find anything on search.
3. Good source for small spares like this? I'll be wanting a spare bolt etc. as well now.
4. Is the firing pin different than the 7.62x39 firing pin?
I've attempted to get in touch with the store I bought it from but they seem to be busy today - not answering the phone.
Pretty big downer, especially for having had the rifle a little over 24 hours. I have big hopes for this rifle. 5.56, 1 in 7 twist... non-restricted, so I can shoot it in my backyard (I live on a quarter section in the middle of nowhere).
Might have to have a little bourbon and relax.
Ben
