Congratulations. Been 39 1/2 years since I shot my first bear in 1976.

Why all sausage?

Bear meat makes great ground meat for meat patties and spaghetti sauce and bear roasts and stew are very nice too.

To answer BenchrestJohns question, I didn't intentionally start that on fire. It got a little carried away. I was just trying to burn some honey and send some scent down wind!

MD, to be honest, I'm partly worried about Trichanosis and not cooking it well for our guests. And also, I figured sausage would be a good route to go down as we have an awesome butcher just down the street who makes amazing wild game sausages.. To die for.

You are right to worry about trichinosis...... And bear sausage is delicious.....

That being said, bear roasts are to die for...... Make up a couple and cook them in your crock pot so they turn out pot roast style...... A bit of red wine, onions and garlic will leave your guests dying for more.... Or just do the lazy man's way and cook it in the crock with some water and onion soup mix......

Well at least your partner knows he's safe and secure out there with ya. No issue with out running a man in crocs :p Nice bear.

Just cook any bear meat as well as you would pork and it's fine.

I save rib racks, saw them into sections and bake in the oven with tomatoes, onions and garlic. And Like I said before, ground bear meat is excellent in spaghetti, lasagna, chili, anything calling for ground meat. Just cook it well.

And about the crocs... that definitely wasn't planned. I realized I forgot my rubber boots at home halfway out... big tactical error! But, luckily, the "croc" is the world's most versatile, comfortable, and stylish shoe known to man! They were up to the task! Cheers!

My wife would agree. She wore crocs for over 500 km while we were backpacking on el Camino de Santiago in Spain. After the constant pounding endured during a month of 25 km or so each day over all kinds of trails and all kinds of weather, crocs were the only footwear that her feet could stand. Just wear good wool socks and go for it!
