I have an old Hans 2.5x32mm Wenzel scope made by Summerlee. The reticle is a fine wire crosshair but it seems that the solder or wires have become disconnected from the brass ring. The reticle is removable so what I am looking for is ideas on replacement or should I just do my best to solder the wires?

Use epoxy instead of solder. Soldering a stadia wire is not for the feint of heart as once it cools it will sag. Use a gel epoxy and be very careful to keep it running down the wire, or replace the entire wire if it is broken at the ring.

I had good results using strands of kevlar taken from a piece of kevlar woven cloth. Using lead sinker weights crimped on both ends of a strand for tension, drape the strand over the brass ring in the horizontal position. Use the gel crazy glue with 2 drops to attach the strand to the reticle ring. Let cure. Repeat process for the vertical. I'm still using mine in a B+L 36X scope. Works well.

Thanks for the suggestions. Turns out the store was happy to take it back. Turned it in and picked up a different scope for half the price.
