Well I've put at least a thousand rounds of 17HMR down range since buying my Savage 93 off of a CGNer several years ago. I've shot sub 1" groups at 100 yds all day long. Intro'd the wife to shooting with this tack driver and shot tones of varmints. Well This year while conducting a small scale war with ground hogs who decided to tunnel under the slab of my barn to have better access to my vegetable garden I began to develop a failure to eject. Occasionally every 10-15 rds the extractors would not grab the case to pull it from the chamber. Not a problem work the bolt again and still not extracting. Slip the case out with a jack knife and lightly tap the butt on the ground and it falls free. Thant was until last night when the tap on the ground snapped off the trigger sear and peened the bolt stop slightly. The rifle is useless until I can fix it. I have ordered the Rifle Basix SAV-R replacement sear and will let you know how it performs. The original bolt had been polished so that it broke like a glass rod. I hope I have not ruined anything else. If the FTE continues I'll turn the knife around and deploy the pliers of the leatherman that is always on my belt to remove it. Hopefully the $100 sear is the most this error of laziness costs me.
Does anyone have any experience with this sear? I have not found many reviews on it. Many on the replacement for the accutrigger but mine is older than the accutrigger.
Also does anyone else have FTE problems? What was your solution?
