Broken SKS takedown lever.

I took out my SKS yesterday and put about 200 rounds through it. It functioned flawlessly until it fell apart lol. The little pin came out of the takedown lever, the lever worked its way out and the dust cover and recoil spring popped off. Could have hurt if it came out while the bolt was cycling, luckily it popped out after the bolt closed. So now I need to source a new one. I've looked at the sponsoring sites but couldn't find what I was looking for, can someone recommend an online source for parts?

Here is a 75 yard target I shot at while standing. Man is the trigger horrible!! But I can see why these guns are sooo addictive.

On another topic, I saw this animal "track" while in the back 40 and I thought it was pretty cool so I thought I'd share it.

Thanks pc9, I actually looked at that page but I saw item 15 was out of stock and I thought that was what I needed but looks like the reciever latch is the same thing just called something different.

Thanks svt1940, I'll keep those guys in mind for future reference. I've got punches and hammers and sandpaper and a dremmel. Is there something I could do or is it best left to a professional?

I found the lever and put it back in but I had to push it back in after each shot because the little pin was lost in the snow.
my friends Chinese sks has the same issue we have to constantly flip down the lever on the dust cover. i will pay more attention to it now

You could probably use a roll pin, available in auto and harware store,to replace the missing pin if you dont find a original one.

I have seen people who use tech sights who put a bolt through with a nut on the other end, you could try looking at a tech sight and see what they use to bolt through

Since he still have the lever, replacing the small retaining pin is more easy. Replacing the whole lever with a bolt is annoying because need tools to strip the gun each time. I'm a purist and i know it:p

Oh, good point, i thought it was the big pin that the lever is attached to that he broke, not the smaller retaining pin

Thanks for the advice, I have a few roll pins in the garage maybe I have one that'll fit.

The pic of the snow angel of death is from an owl, I think its a short eared owl I've seen him around quite a bit. Judging from the blood it looks like a successful hunt.
