A group of bears is typically called a sloth or a sleuth. Because most bears are highly solitary animals, they are rarely seen together in large numbers outside of mating season or when gathering at abundant food sources like salmon streams
I flew to Katmai with Regal Air, Anchorage, June 2018.
It was a 4 hour flight, in a 1963 DeHaviland Beaver.
The flights there n back were worth the cost by themselves!
On the return flight, we flew right over the top of Mt.Iliamna, which is an active volcano. And we literally 'scraped' the top of the mountain, 20' above it maybe? Frickin amazing!
But there's nothing quite like that trail through the forest. It winds through thick bush, bear #### evety 20', bear trails #####-crossing the trail, again every 20'.
You never feel quite so alive as when you are hiking that trail.
And the bears... just wow!
I intend to go back.
