Iam Looking For Info On The Value Of A All Matching Late War Broomhandle Mauser That Was Brought Back From Ww2 . Its In Near Mint Condition ! Any Info Would Be Great !

Jason Spencer in Ottawa runs Gunco. Look in the phone book for his number. His logo is a Broomhandle and he used to sell as many as he could put his hands on. Many Broomhandles, P38s and P08s went back to Germany.

Sell the gun, not the story.

The only bolt release on these pistols is the magazine follower. When the pistol is empty the follower will block the bolt in the open position. To release the bolt you must either load the pistol (stripper clip recommeded) or insert your finger (carefully holding the bolt with your other hand to prevent damage to said finger or other digit when the bolt slams into battery) and depress the follower releasing bolt.

The bolt stop is just that! It stops the bolt from coming off the pistol and planting itself in the shooters forehead. I doubt very much that anyone would want to modify the bolt stop in anyway. If it has been modified, I recommend replacing it prior to firing the pistol.

hahaha

Hey this was a true story from the vet ! he has pics of himself in France showing off the pistol.. and i also bought a great k-98 rifle and a luftwaffe officers dagger. and yes this broomhandle was probably a private purchase .

You need a photobucket, hunt101, etc, account to host your pics then you can post them here.

NP, I had already thought of the private purchase route, and it was more prevalent in europe then in allied armies, (well, maybe not Patton, but he was a gunnut too)

Gotta get some pics up, also the rifle, show off the markings.....

Yeah, my German officer grandfather brought back an ivory handled, nickel plated revolver :D

I don't know what he carried for a sidearm but he mentioned that the Canadians that captured them allowed him to keep it to control the men. He lost it when they got transferred to US custody. Now you know why they emigrated to Canada - he got the best treatment as a PoW from the Canadians.
