Where did you order the 9mm barrel from ? Let us know if the 9mm barrel in the .40 slide exhibits any accuracy issues compared to the .40 s&w barrel.

Keep hearing about accuracy problems with the 9mm.

Nice firearm..thinking about the same one.

Gee, my pro didn't come with all that white lettering on the slide. I wonder why?

The only white lettering on mine is the caution.

White Nail Polish. I've seen a few like it, so i had to do it myself. I think it turned out really well.

North Sylva.

S&W had problems with the barrel rifling on the 9mm. All shipping with the improved barrels now.

I'm thinking of getting a 9 barrel for my 40 as well. I did some research and its seems debatable someone said s&w told them it would void the warranty. and some people said it didn't lock up right. In the end I think it was basically a lot of people did it successfully and so try at own risk.

Looking good! Some of that ammo looks familiar :D

Sure does...fits right in there under the Hydra-Shok :p

Ya, the guys on the Smith & Wesson forum say it fits like a champ. Also, that all parts between the two (.40 and 9mm) are the same. I should have the barrel by the third week of Aug or so.

Nice lookin gun. I have to live vicariously through this thread. Still waiting on my ATT so I can pick up my first restricted. (been waiting almost 6 weeks) stupid back log in BC :(

First I've heard of a rifling issue. Mostly read about something to do with the Shield coming into production and a change that was made to 9mm barrel that was causing it to unlock early during recoil.

Either way, hope it's fixed. Like the idea of 2 guns for the price of one plus a barrel.

Wouldn't you need a second guide rod and spring for the 9mm ?

Thanks

Nope, the Spring and guide rod are the same between both models.

Smith's original spec factory barrels were sent out with an inexplicably fast 1:18.75" rate of twist that caused some issues with bullets lighter than 147 gr. My current 9 barrel is in this configuration and my solution is to only shoot 147 in it, using this fix I find that 3" at 25m from a rest is very doable.

Smith's current twist rate for the 9 is 1:22" or so (closer to the KKM and SL match barrels at 1:24) and seems to have no issues at all, either with lighter bullets or with early unlocking. I am currently waiting for one of these as well as a threaded Storm Lake barrel...
