Does anyone have a Broughton "5C ®" button barrel in their gun?
Whats your experience with this barrel? Is the 5C rifling better?
I'm putting togheter a 6mm and looking at different barrel mfg.
Please let me hear your thoughts, thanks.

I've got a 1-11" 5C on my .308 F/Tr rifle. It's probably the smoothest barrel I've had, and it shoots very well too. This group was fired at 900m with no indicators between shots. They arn't magic, and I wouldn't put off a build until I could get one, but I wouldn't hesitate to use one either. The fact is that we've never had it so good in terms of the availibility of really good barrels.

Mpwolf? what is the makeup of your rifle? Looks like a very nice rig.

Does your target read 6 3/8"?!? Wow! Nice shooting!

PGW action. It's a first-rate .308 F-Class rifle.

mpwpolf might not mention it but I will - that group won him the "small group" match at the 2011 Eastern Canadian F Class Championships. Not only is it 6-3/8", it is also much less than that in height, definitely under 4" by my eyeball (at long range group height is usually a better indication of the rifle+ammo accuracy)

Why is it that some of the oldest rigs shoot the best?!? Amazing. I'm looking to do a custom build and think a Broughton barrel is the way to go. Promising at least.

Thanks for the info.

Getting a good barrel is easy- I don't get hung up on a specific brand. Krieger, Rock, McLennan, Broughton, Gaillard, McFee, Brux, Bartlien- you get the idea.Actions are easy too- If starting over, I'd opt Barnard S, or Pierce, or if looking for the best for F/Tr, I don't think you can beat the Kelbly F Class- supper stiff, and 32 oz.
