Brown Bess Replica?

The Brown Bess is not a rifle.... It is a smoothbore muzzleloader... A musket... ;) You can ask in the "Antique and Blackpowder" section of the EE for a used one... I have two myself!

If you plan to shoot it go with a Pedersoli. You can get kits from track of the wolf, shipped to Canada with out any problems, but have them mark itthe package, " antique".

Pricey things, so they are. Shooter's Choice in Waterloo, Ont wants $1,240.00 for the Perdersoli(flintlock, no registration). $189.95 for the bayonet and $106.95 for the scabbard(they can't spell either).

Wow!..Then prices have certainly jumped...I bought my Brown Bess from Shooters Choice for $850.00 and the bayonet/scabbard for $150.00...Of course this was about 7 years ago.....

Brown Bess

No doubt about it, Pedresoli guns have gotten up there. The cheaper Brown Bess copies are made in India. I know Loyalist brings them in as incompleted kits and then tune up the locks and proof test the guns. I have owned an Indian made Charleville and I am very pleased with it. The finished quality is excellent. The only small issue is the wood is not walnut but it is attractive.

Cheers. Steve
