Brown Bess Repro-Where to buy in Canada.

I know the owner of militaryheritage.com and can attest to his character, though the response times and order times often leave a lot to be desired. As such I would probably reccomend lionsdenarms.com/home_page.htm, if you live in Southwestern Ontario, I'm not sure if he would be willing to ship farther than that as he does most of his buisness face to face. I have bought two muskets from him and both were excellent pieces. He also services what he sells, though he doesn't offer any warrenties.

I have seen a few for sale in the classifieds here.
Thats one Idea, Aside from that I would deal with Loyalist, they really have FANTASTIC customer service and they also offer repairs and extra parts.

Military heritage really dont offer anything after the musket is sent, and their locks generally need to be reworked "can be expensive" I had a very negative experience with them, and wouldent do buisness with them anymore, just my experience mind you.

To use, or hang on the wall?

If you are going to reinact with a Bess Reproduction, the Pedersoli is the only way to go.

If you can find an older Pedersoli in good condition I suggest you buy it as they are actually better made than current versions.

The Indian made copies look good but do not stand up to the "cleaning" required to keep a functioning Bess in service.

If it's to go on the wall however, the Indian copies are perfect due to the price point and reduced cost of accessories such as bayonets etc.

I would suggest Loyalist for one of these as I have brought in their Bess, and Baker Rifle versions.

The Gun Room ( Shooters Choice ) in Waterloo also brings in Pedersoli.

I got my Perdersoli(Brown Bess 2nd Model) from Dixie! shipped it right to my door . The total cost came to about $950.00, course this was around Christmas time so they had a special on.

I will have to respectfully disagree, I own both the piedersoli bess and the loyalist long land.

I have shot both "alot" the piedersoli in my opinion is a inferior product.

The loyalist bess has a wonderful lock and a stout barell, as far as standing up to cleaning AGAIN through years of experience I disagree,
I reinact and shoot, and time and time again my loyalist long land out performs the piedersolis around me.

THE ONE AND ONLY REDEEMING FEATURE on the piedersoli is its walnut stock.

more then a year after getting my piedersoli I am just not nearly finished working out the bugs in it, poor brass castings that look like they were done by a 7 year old.

The loyalist guns are stocked in teak which can get heavy after lugging it around the bush for a couple of days , But if you want a good strong production gun you are likely to find none better, great brass castings, beautiful steel work, and a barell that is a bit thick but is stout with 100 grains and a patched round 69 cal standard size ball.

The piedersolis look good with that walnut stock , but time and time again I find they fail when the shot counts,
If you want to shoot it onece or twice and ---pay the same price you would for a really high quality custom investment gun--- a piedersoli makes a ok musket but mine works wonders as a wall hangar.

The loyalist musket ACHES to be shot, with the hand forged locks, and fine design she shoulders like a dream

Piedersoli makes great percussion and cartridge arms...Every one of their flintlocks just seem like bad copys of origionals with poor function.

I have shouldered alot of em and have yet to find one that I like, they just seem low quality for the price, I will NEVER buy another one of their flintlocks.

If you live in or around southern ontario I would welcome you to come by and handle both the piedersoli and the loyalist, test the function and what not before you lay your money down.

Nothing is more of a pain in the ass then a poorly functioning flintlock.

I wouldent sell my loyalist longland for 3000$$, I assembeled it from a kit they had in their specials section, and after alot of fitting and lovin its the finest flintlock I have had the pleasure to shoot "mind you when I do my part"

Sorry, but I will have to disagree here as well.
I own several Pedersoli's (incl the Bess), and the Bess repro is by far the inferior model to the other Bess repro's I own and use. Not only that, but the locks on the Pedi's (specifically the main spring) are horrible, and prone to breakage. (My lock mainspring has broken twice.......yipes)

I have two suppliers, the first is Loyalist (Really, you can't beat their customer service) and a small outfit called Lions Den out here in SW Ont (as previously mentioned, Les Szabo is a good fellow).
I'm not crazy about Military Heritage, as their product is not the greatest, and quality control is all over the map, (IMO).
