Brown Precision .257 Weatherby Question

Hi. I've got a Brown Precision .257 Weatherby with a Shillen barrel, Win. Model 70 action, post '64 push feed. I'm thinking of selling it and getting into a Styre .300 Win. Mag.. I just don't know what this rifle is worth. I got it on trade plus cash years ago from a good friend and I just didn't shoot it enough. Can anyone help me out with a general idea. I hope this is the right place to ask about this as I am new. Thanks.

Brown precision rifles are really nice rigs..... I had the opportunity to borrow one for an elk hunt and really liked it.....

Depending on the model, the new ones will run anywhere from $4500 - $6000 usd new...... So, as far as a used value is concerned, I would say that if it is in excellent condition and base $4500 usd model $4000 Canadian would be a good price.... That being said, it's a custom rifle at a premium price, so the audience for it may be small....
 
I haven't had any interest in WBY Vanguard SS in 257 equipped with the Kevlar Brown Precision stock price at $1500 so I don't know what market there would be for a Win push feed at $4000 range.

I wouldn't pay it, but the prices I quoted came from their website...... I looked at buying one after I used it and definitely too rich for my blood.....

They have been in business a while, so they must sell some..... Like I said, small audience....
 
Rifles Inc, Brown Precision, Bansner, etc are all "custom" makers that basically bolt together parts largely made by others, do some machining and coating and accurize. Nice rifles, but usually way more to purchase new than you'll get for resale, though often still better than having a no name gunsmith do the same and reselling.
I'd say your best bet is to check on gunbroker and other auction sites in the US for a general guideline, just realize that the market here for these guns is much smaller.

It would also help if you knew the model, approximate age, etc. as there are some different ones out there. If you're unsure, you could even email Brown with the serial number and maybe they can give you the details.
 
Thanks for the input and the welcomes. When I'm permitted to access the sell section I may list this and in the meantime start looking for my Styre.

Good advice..... And to be honest, I would buy a gun doublegun built quicker than this one.....but there is a market for everything....

Absolutely. I was just saying that if there's a name behind it, resale is generally easier. Doesn't mean the gun is better, in fact in most cases, you're largely paying for the name.
But for serial flippers like me, resale means a lot! :)

Agreed....... But the sticker on these is far outside of my serial flipper realm.... Lol
