This was the only new handgun, an STI Trojan 9mm. I thought a 9mm 1911 would be a nice compliment to my Kimber in .45ACP. First impressions are it's not as nice as my Kimber, but they are at a different price point. The first thing I noticed was the, IMO, ugly color of the grips. Just too orange for me but those can be changed. I also noticed the STIppling on the front strap to be bothersome while holding the gun. It feels sharp. Has anyone else noticed this?

Here's a pic, I'll see how it shoots next week.

Yeah it's UPS. :D Someone else coined the phrase in another thread.

I was actually expecting Canada Post to deliver them and was pleasantly surprised this afternoon when I saw a UPS truck pull up to my house with three boxes. :D:D:D:runaway::dancingbanana:

I cleaned the STI tonight. Scratched up the f**king slide with my ring trying to field strip it. :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

The STIppling on the front strap is bothering me, but I'll see how it shoots next week. It's got a nicer trigger and smoother mag release than my Kimber.

On another site I have heard it referred to as "the BBT" as in "The BBT came today, I am so happy! Finally got my____!"

BBT=Big Brown Truck

I HATE the STIpplings! they look harmless but when you grip the gun hard it cuts into your hands. I can live with checkering but still prefer smooth frontstraps...

9mm STI I've shot wan't too reliable and frankly I find 9mm 1911's boring...

That was the thing. It looked cool on their website, but when I handled it the first time I was like "WTF? Ouch." I'm seriously considering selling or trading the gun.

I found the front strap on my Ranger II with the STIppling to be quite bothersome to. One of the reasons I sold it.

I replaced grips on my with a pair of VZ. I don't find front strap bothersome at all.

I also STI internals are years ahead of Kimber especially their ignition components. Yes I do own a Kimber too.

This type of stippling, sometimes called Golf Ball stippling is the one of the most up to date custom treatments for front straps. It provides really good grips but doesn't tear up clothing like checkering or old fashioned stippling.
