We wanted to update everyone on the status of the BRN-10, as we know many of you are quite excited to get your hands on one. There have been a few revisions since SHOT Show, primarily based on your requests or changes needed following testing.

These changes are:

Front Sight Base Revision - Based on your feedback, we have gone to a Sudanese type design, with a sling swivel on the side. This part was modeled from an original part. The first batch of these will be machined, and we will look at forging these down the road.

Charging Handle Retention Mechanism - The charging handle detent has been done away with in favor of a single spring, courtesy of Nodak Spud. This mechanism is very similar to the NDS-15 design. This change was necessary due to inconsistency of the detent holding the charging handle in battery during firing.

Bolt Carrier will have three gas vent ports.

All design alterations are fixed in place and parts are in production. We are still planning to ship in the next few months, but we want to ensure this rifle is right out of the gate.

If you happen to be at the NRA Meetings & Exhibits, we will have BRN-10 rifles on-hand for you to handle, and the team would be happy to address any questions or concerns.

One test rifle shown below:

I sent brownells an entire Sudanese AR10 front end because their intitial BRN-10 design was done from photo references only. They now have accurate 3d models of the front sight base, handguard, flash-hider, etc. The exciting part ois that there is a possibility that a later BRN-10 gun will use handguards that will also fit on an original Sudanese AR10. So no handguard shortage, ever.

As I said before, waiting for the BRN-10 series almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.

I for one, want the BRN-10A.

The front sight base was one of the things that bugged me about the original reproduction, this makes me very happy. If only they could now make the Portuguese semi steel handguards..

Both based of the old AR10 which should make it NR as it pre dates the AR15 ‘same justification as the bcl 102’ as long as it’s semi only.

Cosmetiicaly and old AR10. The bolt group and fire control group is from a DPMS LR308. Fortunately the upper and lower do not intechange with LR308 or modern Armalite.

So from a mechanical standpoint they are more modern than vintage.

Doesn't make a lot of sense. That looks like a typical ar10 so not sure why it would be nr.

That's exactly what I was thinking hence my questioning as to whether or not he even knows what he's talking about. Plus his post is the only place I've heard it mentioned
