Brownell's Dos and Don'ts

Like I suspected they will not honour either.

As the shift in the classification moved the item to regulated/restricted, the I(g) category, they will not honor “grandfather in” per the date. If the classification was going down, they probably would have but unfortunately no. Our Dept. of State has all new officers and they are not seasoned at all.

Feel kinda short changed as my order was placed before the change in regulations. Sure sounds like more government red tape which is no good for anyone except the smug bureaucrats.

I imagine it would be the BS to bring in parts via a third party importer?

No problem there, just pay them a bank draft to buy it for you, pay the bank $40 for the draft, and wait the 12 weeks for that whole process to receive your BCG.

As I suspect you know already (I sense a hint of sarcasm) that wouldn't make financial sense - $290 US for the bureaucrats + the price of the product makes a comparable product cheaper up here.

Crappy thing is Brownells has an awesome range of products, many of which aren't readily available here.

Receivers are a no-go, I ordered a barrel a few years back and it cost an extra $10 for the export permit. I just received today a Precision Armament M4-72 SEVERE-DUTY BRAKE .308

Yeah. There is no grandfsthering with export. If they say no after a certain date, it means no export. No exception. Just like IRG with their glock 33rnds mags.

I found some NiB BCG on armseast USA website. Ordered it there, but yeah, 2 times the price $400, but its a FailZero

I still feel a little jaded as I placed 2 orders on boxing day, one was processed almost straight away while the other (which included the BCG) just sat there - had it have been processed at the same time as the other order it would have beat the cutoff date and would have been on its way to me.

I imagine the process with the bureaucrats couldn't be started due to them being on vacation and now they're back its after the cutoff date.

Been looking at compatible BCGs up here and its pretty painful - selection is poor and the prices are ~double.

I had a order that was under 500 just recently and they said they needed a export permit because the total order including the non-controlled goods. Made it go over. I even sent a email asking sandy to confirm. So I just canceled a few items to get it completely under 500.

I ordered 2x BCGs and 1x AR15 Trigger from Brownells separated in two orders on Black Friday Sale, and they all shipped to me before Christmas. Now they are on the way to my place. YMMV.

Which would have meant that the government paperwork was completed before Xmas. After Xmas the landscape has changed completely and BCGs, while still possible after getting Export licenses etc, is not really feasible for a one off (+$250 US fee).

I'm sure your billet lower is not the same product as the chinese BCG..

Nobody said it was the same product.
Only that it came from the same pile of (unlabelled) parts on their website.

I ordered without knowing where it came from. The price was low enough that I didn't care.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was made in USA.
