Brownells Retro AR10 Rifle

YoungestPiperCub is still incorrect. The proprietary Receiver contours used on the BR10 series of rifles will not interchange nor mate up with àny modern AR10 Receivers, neither the Lower nor the Upper. ,,,,

Proof.

The first pic compares the brownies upper (top) with a Sudanese AR10 upper (bottom). See the contour is similar but the locking hole is way off. A later Portuguese upper would differ from the Sudanese mostly in the diameter of the pivot hole. So brownies upper/lower does not fit the original Dutch locking and pivot pin holes. Note that Hollywood and Sudanese uppers and lowers can interchange so the incompatibility applies to ALL early (original) AR10s.

The second pic shows and attempted mating of a brownies upper with an original Dutch (Portuguese contract) lower. See the minor gap in the profile near the locking pin hole? And the complete misalignment of the locking holes? And the off-size and off-center issues with the pivot pin holes?

Then there is the incompatibility of the skinny modern bolt (brownies) go back into the cavernous original buffer tube...

I haven't heard anything about a sample being submitted to the RCMP for classification.

The first runs of rifles down in the USA have had problems, primarily with zeroing. It seems the blueprints were drawn up with only partial knowledge of the heights of the front sight base and carry handle, so they ended up not lining up properly and most rifles could not be sighted in. It was exacerbated by many of the first rifles having canted FSBs. Brownells is just now getting correctly sighted rifles out to people.

There are also some retro parts that aren't ready for production yet, so the rifles have been shipping with anachronistic parts, such as the pistol grip, which is generic M16A1, and the mags, which are modern DPMS style. Reproductions of the original designs are expected within weeks, so by the time the rifles are available here this stuff should all be sorted out.

Seen. Thanks for the update.
Unfortunate. Nice to see new product production issues are not just a Canadian issue....lol
I'm still eagerly awaiting this. I need one in my life badly Non Restricted.

What updates do you expect? It an “AR15” like the rest and is absolutely prohibited under the OIC. If the other “not an AR15” AR10 versions didn’t escape, why would these?

You do know that the May 1 OiC specifically called out the AR-10 rifles this time.

87 The firearms of the designs commonly known as the M16, AR-10 and AR-15 rifles and the M4 carbine, and any variants or modified versions of them — other than one referred to in item 47, 49 or 50 of this Part — including the

They aren't trying to pretend an AR-10 is an AR-15. They specifically called it out this time.
