Just about to pull the trigger (ha, pun not even intended. Can't help myself...) on a small parts order from Brownells, what's the cheapest shipping method from those in the know? I'm looking at $60 in parts, I shouldn't run into any trouble otherwise, right? None of the parts are marked restricted for export...

I usually don't get charged customs and tax with anything under a $100 . Flat shipping $14.50 one to two week delivery to Ontario that has been my experience this last few years.

Ask them if they can mail it in a small envelope. It is less likely to attract the attention of the revenooers. Saves money and arrives quicker.

They won't... there is no way a small envelope is insured and they have no way of knowing if you receive it or not. You have no way of knowing if they shipped what you paid for. A lose lose situation.

I placed two orders in the last month, both were around $50 USD. ( small gun parts ). I chose 4-7 BD Standard UPS mail Innovations International. Shipping was $8.99 USD on both orders.

Did you mean to say USPS? I decline to allow any trans-border shipper to ship via UPS. UPS charges a steep brokerage fee even though, to my knowledge, brokerage services are not required on any non-business imports into Canada. They hold your goods ransom at the door until you pay.

If you pick USPS (which is the only way to go) Brownells ships UPS Innovations to the border then the Mail system takes over to do the trans border stuff. No UPS trans-border blood money.....

Worst case you get dinged Canuck Tax and the $9.95 CBSA fee.

Both orders showed up with no extra charges.

UPS innovations is just contracted to pick up their stuff and take it to whatever sorting depot that the packages are meant for. It ends at the border. It's no different than at our shop a courier comes every day to pick up our mail and take it to Canada post. The boxes a basically a set fee. Whatever fits in the box is billed x amount of dollars. I got a 10 pack of shotgun beads in one of those boxes.
