Brownell's Updated Registered Factories

Brownells Registered Manufacturers List

This List represents the factories within the Brownells catalog. We are continually checking with vendors to see if they are registered with US State Department.

Registering is very expensive for factories, carries paperwork tracking and a whole lot of other regulatory stuff. For those companies who do not think having their products exported or don't want to hassle with US State Dept. they opt out of registering.

US State Dept. is requiring all exports of regulated items to list the manufacturer on orders requiring a licenses. US State is scrutinizing all industries, our industry is not being scrutinized more than any other. If the manufacturer has not registered with the State Department then License is not approved and the order can not be placed.

There are many companies we do not list because they have not registered yet with State Dept. If you know of any producer of products who is registered and not on this list please let us know.

Even though tapco is on the list they wouldn't ship the sks mags to a US address because I had a canadian credit card.

US companies have a list of "RED FLAGS" we must watch out for. One of them is if ship to or bill to addresses are NON-US; we must consider these orders as exports.

We have been through an audit and State Department always looks at Bill to addresses.

Their thought behind this is: "There is a high probability these products will travel across the board"

Welcome to the forum Pete! Thanks for the info. It's nice to hear it straight from the source.

+1 bigtime. Sandy and Rheanna (export and special orders gals) are bigtime stars that have enthusiastically helped me order all kinds of cool stuff from Brownells. I can't tell you how nice it is to see a company that has not completely written us off up here; they're where I'll be voting with my wallet for as long as this continues!

Cheers, and again, a BIG thank you.

I remember when the FAC was the same as a FFL. You could order lower receivers and anything else from the U.S. no probelm. What the hell happened. Besides Liberals and Democrats being in power :(

Your State Department is phucked, whats the difference if products are shipped overseas from Canada or from the U.S. I'm sure the bad guys have relatives or sympatizers in both countries.

Thanks for posting this, when I have a choice of the same (or similar) parts from 2 or 3 manufacturers, it's just easier on everyone if I can check the list and order the exportable part the first time. Smoother for Brownell's easier for me and of course, less stress for the DOS (lol)

Either way it is nice to see a Brownell's representative here on CGN providing some clarification on things. It is much appreciated.

I'll guess you haven't had to deal with any Canadian bureaucrats, have you? Otherwise you would know that "government employee" don't have to make sense... Just look at the CFC, the RCMP and the firearms act ;)

I was looking at a Surgeon action and it says that if you don't have a FFL they won't ship. Surgeon is on the list. How does that work

Shoot an email to Sandy... She's the best

They can't ship an action/receiver etc to non ffl holders. You will need to go through a dealer/exporter. Its the same as buying a complete gun. You could however order their bolt knob with no restrictions
