So Cabelas in U.S. wont sell a rifle if they know it is going to Canada!

Yup. Was in their Gun library in Marysville north of Seattle a couple of years ago jonesing over a few rifles and a couple of pistols, even with the exchange rate, import fees GST etc a couple were still cheaper than up here. The salesman was very friendly and accommodating until he found out I was Canadian. I told him about Prophet River and IRUNGUNs etc. He say yes yes I knows guns can be legally exported from the states but not from Cabelas, wtf. He said it was a corporate policy no firearms outside USA. He mentioned he had a couple German guys with deep pockets wanting to buy a couple used Blasers, again same story.

Wow! Dumb policy!

I think it stemmed from when Midway USA got dinged for exporting scopes without paperwork. I guess Cabelas and other vendors didn’t want the hassle and only sell stateside. Anyway check out Gun Broker, Guns America (if you can get through) etc for the Browning 1886. If one pops up, get a hold of Clay. Good luck with your quest. If successful post pics lol.

Yea funny thing is, they would just be sending it to an ffl who would take care of the paperwork! Ha, and oddly enough they advertise it on Guns International!!!
I'm gonna try to find a friend in the U.S. and possibly work it through them to get it out of Cabelas hands.

You can buy guns from Cabelas no problem. You don't need to tell them where they are going. Contact Borderview Logistics. They are an American FFL who will buy it for you, then export it. Not super cheap, but if it's something special it's worth it. Today I was shooting a Wyoming Armory highwall that came from Cabelas via Borderview.

Chris.

seems like a lot of hassle when the Winchester 1886 Hi Grade is available up here, but then its not a Browning....or is it.....

Same same and both made by Miroku plant in Japan, I have both. Fit and finish by grade is the same. Except Browning doesn’t have that stupid dreaded tang safety and rebounding hammer. One could delete the rebounding hammer and safety on the Winchester and cover the tang safety slot with a rear aperture sight.

Yeah I like the Brownings more because of the proper hammer and no safety on the tang. I owned one for a while. I should have kept it. I'd like one of the fancy engraved ones just because they look so nice 😀
