so... this post isn't to put blame on any importers or distributors... it's to see if anyone knows anything about the whereabouts of these guns.

I put a down a deposit for a Browning 1911-22 a number of months ago.

i knew the pistol was not yet released yet at that time, though it was supposed to be released in 2011.

I called Browning USA in July and they told me they were waiting for mags to be completed manufacturing.

I called Browning USA again in late August and they said the pistols were to be released September 1st. It is now September 18 and i haven't been able to see any information on the internet about even people in the USA having received them yet.

anybody? any information? anybody?

fantasy firearms...

... there are many phantom firearms advertised, that never actually become available.

For example:

1) the Thureon Defense 9mm AR-15 variant, in 9mm, non-restricted
2) the Chiappa take-down Ranch-Hand in 44 magnum, non-restricted
3) the Springfield 1911 in 9mm
4) the P7M8, NIB

I have ordered all of these within the past 2 years, and am still waiting.

Yours may be another phantom… don't hold your breath... and above all, don't put any money down.

.

yah... all i've seen is reviews by magazines etc. and on browning's website... it shows one being given away as a 100yr commemorative to a politician... but no stories of individual ownership yet... so the gun exists... but when for personal ownership? waiting..... anyone with info or updates plz share.

and yes... they already took the deposit money from me. i wanted the first yr production.

I have been interested in this pistol since I heard about it. I was hoping someone would buy one and give us a range report. It is still on the maybe list but that new Ruger .22 revolver is interesting too!

Maybe try contacting Browning Canada? Stateside availability of firearms =/= Canadian availability.

so i called Browning USA customer service product information. and yah... i called USA, not Canada... seeing as how they're making the guns i figured they're the best people to call to see if it's been released yet. and after months of calling once a month and having last been told that the release would be September 1st... i was told they would not be sent out in the US a couple weeks from now. so hopefully soon after that they'll be arriving in Canada..... IF they actually get released this time and not pushed back again.

yep i called epps. sure enough they had the $1127 commemorative with Kbar, but they haven't received any of the individual pistols yet. looks like i'll keep waiting... at least i know the pistol is now out there in one form or another.

maybe browning meant the individual pistol wouldn't be out for a couple more weeks... who knows.

but i wish they would have been more "on time" and with less delays in release dates for something they made for a 100 yr anniversary gun.

Looks like a really nicely made piece. Hope they ramp up the production and get them out. I'd definitely be interested in picking up a regular retail version for the wife. You don't have to answer this, but I'd be interested in who you ordered with and how much?

previous messages responded to in pm. as for the gun... just got off the phone with Browning Canada. they aren't expecting the shipment to come in until late 2011 or early 2012.

quite the 2011 pistol.......

why can't these things be like cars and release the year prior... instead of the year after.

am i the only one waiting for one of these guns? hahaha. i thought there would have been more people waiting for theirs.....

Nice gun but one reason there might be because the Browning is approx. 3/4 the size of a standard 1911. Therefore, parts will not be interchangeable. The other reason is that they are not in the stores yet and the majority of the people have not seen one yet.
