Hi there, I have the opportunity to buy a mint Browning 2000 in 20ga. Can anyone tell me about these, good or bad. Why were they discontinued? are they reliable? Any thoughts appreciated,
The B2000 was discontinued in 1979. One of it's features was that it could be converted to a 3" mag. by just putting on a mag barrel. The standard grade is valued at 100 % $425.00 down to 60% at $250.00. The canadian olympics version of 1976 is valued at $1495.00 in 100% condition. These prices are american. The b2000 was probably the least expensive gas semi auto that Browning made. it may have been discontinued because of a lack of market share. I really don't know.Parts and sales of the b2000 continued until 1983.I've only seen a few,but they seemed to be reliable.
Well made, well engineered shotgun. I have owned 3 and I just can't get used to loading it through the left hand loading port. Shot very well and there are lot's of extra barrels available on the market. If it is priced right and you like it go for it. It will never let you down.
