Im considering a Browning 20g BPS for small game (anybody hunt turkey with one?). Last fall i was using my Beretta 12g, which I was thinking was a little to much firepower. Any issues out there with the Browning BPS 20g? Just dipping into the knowledge base before I buy.......

what barrel size did you have? I was actually leaning towards the 22" or 24" for manueverability in the bush. Con for me, cant get it in composite, only wood.

thats good to know, i was thinking of the micro for manuerverability, have you tried clays with it?

I use it for everything, mine paterns about 4"-5" high at 25yds, dead on at 75yds or so and I like it b/c when shooting under the target I have good visibility of it. Once you get used to it it's working like a charm....

Must be a pretty good shot if you are shooting out to 75 yards.

I would go with a longer barrel if you are planning to use if for Clay games, I had an upland special and it felt like a toy and I shot it poorly at clays, birds were a different story however.

You cannot go wrong with a bps. Just like the boys say however make sure you get the correct barrel length for the type of shooting you plan to do. I am missing the 410 to complete a set and that is on my wish list.

I don't see wood as a con, but that's a personal preference since I only use mine twice a year for upland and they wood and blue looks good in my eye. I had the 26" since I also used to use it once in a while for woody and teals in small pond as well.

Thanks for all the input guys! The gun feels so good in my hands and the racking, cycling, etc. is super smooth. I'm down for the 22" barrel for manueverability, just really really want composite, i have never owned a wood gun. Composite just looks and wears better and i'm pretty hard on my stuff.

Gunrunnner8 - Thanks for the input on the clays, good to know you have experience and it works well. Im avid for clays! and only use my extrema right now, so mixing it up a bit is what i really want to do with a gun I can hunt with too.

Thanks guys!

the only con i see with a BPS is the bottom eject it is hard to tell if IT IS LOADED AT A QUIK GLANS having the action open like on other pumps you can see that it is open and safe with the BPS it is hard to tell if there is a shell in the chamber at all times DUTCH

The 20 gauge is not what I would pick for turkey, but if it is a pump you want you can not go too far wrong with a bps. Very few cons. I had a 20 upland special for a few years. It was not my first choice for clay, but I loved shooting gun down skeet with it.
