Browning A-Bolt 300 Win mag

Have the option to buy a browning a-bolt 300 win mag. What are thoughts on this rifle?

A-Bolt what? There are three versions and they're not the same, or even comparable.

It depends a lot on Price, Model, Condition, and Configuration.

For example. If we're talking about an A-Bolt or A-Bolt II, then my ears would perk up. But there is a range of prices that I would consider fair whether the rifle was a Hunter (base model), Medallion (top end blued steel and wood model), Composite Stalker (composite stock and matte blued barrel), or Stainless Stalker (composite stock and stainless barrel). I have a custom A-Bolt II built off a Stainless Stalker action. My brother has a Stainless Stalker in 30-06 and it's one of the finest all-around hunting rifles that I have ever used (I shot my first caribou with it 31 year ago). My cousin has a Stainless Stalker in 300 Win Mag and until he bought his 28 Noslers it was his go to rifle for many years.

If it was an AB3 then I personally would pass. They don't do anything for me.

Browning A Bolt

I've owned one, a composite stalker, in .300 Win Mag since the mid 1990's.

Great rifle. I bought it specifically for the 26" factory barrel. Loves 70 gr IMR4350 behind any good 180 gr soft point.

Two thumbs up!

I had an older one blued and walnut, floor plate magazine model, I think it was probably the most accurate hunting rifle I ever owned.

Accurate rifles. 26” barrels on the magnums. Triggers easily tuned. Heavier but that’s a good thing on a 300 mag.

im a fan of the Abolt II., i had a 300wsm once when i couldnt handle it but liked the feel, eventually sold it an down the track more recently picked up a left hand version stainless stalker in 30-06, which i cut the barrel down to 19 inch or so an fluted it for cosmetics :)

i like it, its a solid workhorse , once im not affraid to well, drop really... the stock will handle it an all parts are metal, i tend to have to baby my kimber montana more than my Abolt in fear of it breaking the stock - not so with plastic.

usually cut the trigger spring down a tad but havtnt on this 30-06, only downside is often a heavy trigger? but it can be worked an the 3006 feels decent for stalking point an shoot
