Browning a-bolt or x-bolt accuracy

I have owned both . They both shot well but the X bolt was easier to please felt better too . The Abolt I feel is a better made rifle just more solid . I just had one proplem with ejecting a cartrige on the X bolt being a WSM it wouldnt kick the first cartrige when the mag was full I wouldnt have a problem owning both but no WSM in a X bolt for me

Mine is a 300wsm, and it feeds smooth as butter, perhaps I got lucky. I know the short mags, or any cartridge with minimum taper can give problems. I've been very impressed with both feeding and ejection.

In my personal opinion, the last really "good" Browning centerfire was the BBR.

Accuracy of the A-Bolt and X-Bolt is generally quite good, but they have features that leave me cold.

But, whatever floats your boat is fine by me.

Regards, Dave.

I have both and Abolt in .204 ruger and an Xbolt in 25-06. They both shoot down to 1/2 moa with handloads, if I shoot them well. I much prefer the Xbolt with its bolt lock button safety, and magazine that doesn't have to be clipped onto the floorplate (worst part of an Abolt).

If this is going to lead up to a A/X bolt choice of rifle for yourself, I recommend the Browning A-Bolt Tactical, and use some 150-155gr Hornast SST (Or equivalent), 43gr of IMR 4895.

I have owned two A-Bolts and three X-Bolts. Accuracy were great with all but my X-Bolt Stainless Stalker 300WSM is the most accurate. The main reason I like the X-Bolt more than the A is the removable magazine and all of the triggers seem to feel a little more crisp.

I own 2 A-bolt stainless stalkers in .270WSM. Once they were dialled in, they both shoot like fricken' laser beams…I would have preferred sharks with big fricken' laser beams (Austin Powers reference),..but alas the 270WMS came through in the end.

I mag well dust cover the A bolt comes with vs. the X bolt composite one piece mag sealed the deal. I bought my first A-bolt many moons ago and it has over preformed in every situation I have thrown at it from sheep hunting in the mountains to swamp donkey killin' and everything in between.

My vote goes to the A-Bolt as well. Stainless 270, 300WSM and a blued 30-06...ALL would keyhole bullet groups @ 100 yds, with very little load development.

I like the x bolt over the a bolt. Have a 243 x bolt with wood stock. Had an a bolt 223wssm that I was never impressed with the groups or the floorplate magazine.
