I searched the Browning site and could not find the twist rate of any Browning rifles. If you are looking at a .223 for shooting long range you will want something to shoot the heavy 80-90 gr bullets.

Before spending any money on a rifle I suggest you look into one of the ORA's Introductory Days in the new year. It will give you a better idea on what to look for in a rifle and may save you some big bucks in the end by not pissing away your money on a rifle/scope that is not suitable for long range work.

Twist rate for .223 is 1 in 9.

There are a few different classes of F Class here in Canada. One is F/TR that is open to .223 and .308 shot off a bipod. The other class is F(O)pen which if just about any caliber and can be shot off a front rest. The last class that we have here in Ontario is F (F)actory, but not all matches have class prizes for F Factory because there are so few F(F) shooters that attend matches. With a .300 WSM you just might be forced into the F Open class. Another thing to consider is the caliber restrictions for each range. I am not sure about Kingston but I do know that Winona and Cedar Springs do not allow .300 WSM as it does not fit the safety template. Mons range in Borden is good up to .50 BMG.

It is hard to say if a Browning A Bolt II with a 1:9 twist will work with heavy bullets, it would be an expensive gamble to find out it doesn't work. 69 gr bullets will make the trip to 1000 but get blown around in the wind more than the 80 gr and 90 gr.

I'd be looking at .223 because it is cheap. I just posted the only video of the target rifle on youtube for the hell of it.
 
I shoot a browning M-1000 eclipse A-bolt in .300 wsm. Muzzle break, action bedded, and timney trigger spring for mods. Shoots 1/2 moa using factory non match grade ammo. I am going to get hand loading for it then it should be even better than 1/2 moa.

What does 1/2 MOA mean? It shot one 1/2 MOA group, only one time? Or does every shot fired from the rifle go into 1/2 MOA?

Pretty sure (if it is who I am thinking of) he left the sticker on it for a reason, and it wasn't to let everyone know it was a Browning. ;)
