Browning A-bolt Target trigger adjustment problem

I have a Browning A-bolt target rifle that I'm just starting to play with a bit. It's got a single set trigger. I don't like the feel of it and it's too light for me (preset at factory at 9-14 ounces). I prefer a crisp short pull with about 2 lbs. of pull. The primary trigger has a good crisp break and short travel, but it's too heavy. I've read the manual and it claims the primary stage is adjustable. It feels like about 4 or 5 lbs. and when I adjust the screw as per the manual it doesn't seem to change.

Does anyone have any experience with these triggers?

Disappointed with Browning

Well, I'm not surprised no one here has any experience with these rifles...but I was a little surprised that neither the service people at Browning, or their gunsmith has any experience either.

After taking the action out of the stock and looking closely, I see that the adjustment screw isn't in contact with anything. It appears as thought a piece may be missing.

Browning can't even provide me with a schematic of the trigger group. They also tell me the rifle is discontinued.

Their smith (who is a solid guy and is trying to help) has never seen one and has no schematics or even a manual. He's asked me to take pics of the trigger group and send him a pic from the manual where it explains how to adjust the trigger.

*sigh - I knew I should have got a 700 or a savage... ;)

Brownings are great guns, I had an A-bolt in 22-250 years ago, loved it.

Post the pic of the trigger group here, I'm sure someone will help you out.

My X-bolt has an an adjustment screw on the front lower portion that you would screw in to increase trigger weight.

I like browning firearms too, that's why I chose the A-bolt Target for my F-class toy. I'm just disappointed that they can't help me out with tech support or diagrams or anything. I'm still waiting to hear back from their smith to find out if it's missing a part or not.

If anyone has one of these with the set trigger, let me know. I'm pretty sure it's either missing a part or something is out of place. The trigger group is completely different from normal a-bolt triggers.

Here is a pic of the adjustment screw and the gap beneath it. As you can see, turning the screw does nothing.
