Browning A bolt value

The a-bolt 2 is definitely nicer than the ab3.
I bought an a-bolt 2 in .300 wsm about 3 years ago for 600 or 650(can't remember the exact number). It was the blued model with the boss on it, sitting in a synthetic stock.
My brother bought an a-bolt 2 in .300 wm for $600 about 6-7 years ago. It was a blued synthetic version with a barrel boss. I can't remember what scope it came with, because he upgraded to a vx3 right away.
I also bought an a-bolt 2 in .338 win mag medallion grade for 800 about 5 years ago. It came with a bushnell 3200 elite and an upgraded recoil pad.

Yes, the AB III is designed to compete with the other bargain basement rifles flooding the markets lately. It is interesting that Browning on their website stresses the AB III is NOT an A-Bolt in any way, shape or form. The choice of name however is misleading and I am sure the marketing people at Browning counted on the confusion to sell more low-end product.

My first A-Bolt I was a stainless stalker in 270 cal. Black pinstriped bolt. Got it from WSS in early 86. It was one of the first production run guns...had the wooden stock with the black crinkle finish on it. I loved that gun...shot it all the time...too much I guess...lol
Reluctantly, I traded it off in 2013. Accuracy issues. Me using it like a target rifle for 15 yrs didn't help...lol
All them years, I never ever had any feeding issues what so ever.

They are my absolute favorite rifle...esp the stainless versions.
We still have a few of them...all Stainless Stalkers...7mmRM ( A Bolt I)...270 Win (A Bolt II-Boss)...300WSM (A Bolt II-Boss) and two NIB (yet unfired ...Stainless A Bolt II's...one in 243...the other in 308 {{ thankx Griz358 }}....
None of the first 3 rifles ever has had any feeding issues either. I did fix a mag spring in a friends 300WM, He was having feeding issues up to that point...gone after the new spring was installed. I think anywhere's between 600-750...depending on condition and caliber /stainless vs blued would be a good value.
ps....I paid 699.99 back in 86 for mine. No tax in Alta....I received 650 as a trade in 2013...it sold later THAT same day on the GDealer website for 699.99 PLUS TAXES !!!

Like I said...I love them...no issues...always looking for another one.(( don't ask me why...it's a sickness as y'all know...lmao))

Best of luck in your decision !

I see a blued A Bolt Stalker in 270 cal on our local gun site (thegundealer . net)...says fair cond..$449.99

The original was a .284 & the replacement was a 30-06. Both would strip a round off the top of the magazine and then about 10% of the time cartridge would spin and stovepipe.

Not an issue if shooting paper but a major pain when you try and chamber a round to kill something.

I now own a couple of A-Bolt II rifles, a300 WSM and the other 25 WSSM and both feed cartridges as slick as a fat kid slurping hot dogs at a picnic.

haha.
