Browning A-bolt Vs. Tikka T3

A-Bolts are old news...check out the new X-Bolt. Tikka is best value for the money on the market today in my opinion but this new X-Bolt is cool plus the new clip design addresses many of the feeding issues associated with the short mags.

Hi guys, Browning A-bolt Stainless Stalker(No Boss) vs. Tikka T3 Lite Stainless, which one is more accurate and reliable for hunting, I can't afford to get them both and I cant make up my mind.

T3 is a sub 1MOA gun. Light, easy to clean and carry.
Good value for the money.

With a proper care it will last you a lifetime.

Even if you shoot 100 rounds/week, it will last for a very long time.
But it is kinda boring shooting @100 yards or closer. The gun just
shoots one hole on top of another.

Re: Browning vs Tikka

I have a Browning Medallion in 308 - Walnut Stock blued barrel and a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless in 306. I love them both. The Browning is a bit more accurate - both using Fusion 180s. I like the Tikka's ability to put in a clip quicker than the Browning's snap in type of clip. I also have the Tikka 3 and 5 shot clips. The avantage is you don't care about scatches to the stock or the weather with the stainless.:)

youre looking at over $1000+ for a tikka laminate stainless... thats a crazy amount to spend on what is essentially a Finnish Savage.

put a bead-blasted half-plastic $800 tikka next to an $800 browning a-bolt medallion, and youll realise that they are not even in the same league - to compare them is a travesty.

the one above it that looks like a dollar store aluminum level set in a piece of ABS drainpipe is.

But that aluminum level in a piece of ABS drainpipe has a better trigger,a much better magazine design, and they are often even more accurate and reliable than an A-bolt,for less money.I choose my guns to shoot, not to look at.

You're absolutely right - that Browning is waaaayyy overpriced and definitely not in the same leage as the Tikka....

Neither one is superior to the other when it comes to butting lead on skin. I prefer the Tikkas because of their weight, and because of their composite stocks. Easier to schlep in the bush. I prefer their calibre choices as well. (My latest hunting rifle is a .338 federal and I am a huge fan of 6.5X55)

Brownings have a weird clumsy magazine and I don't care for the bolt design. Tikka accessories are way overpriced and I don't like your limited choices for scope rings.

Whatever spackles your crack, but they are both fine firearms.

I agree that its all about personal preference - after all its your money. but Tikka does not belong in the same sentence as the words 'fine firearm' any more than a Stevens, Savage, Remington 710/770, H&R Ultra, Mossberg 4x4, etc do.

Or remington 700 or browning A-bolt....

I am realy happy with my A bolt micro. Its a lite rifle, trigger adj down nice and its accurate. The complaints about the mag design kinda puzzle me,click on the mag, close floorplate and go.Have had zero feeding problems(325wsm).Of the bolt guns I own I like the browning the best, model 700 a close second.Never tried a tikka.

With such a lite rifle I was expecting more, but really it isn't too bad I don't find it much more than my 308blr.I took a friend shooting who is maybe 180lbs never shot anything bigger than a 20gauge and he shot it very well,no flinching.

I have owned both. The T-3 is really quite accurate, but reminds me of a daisey bb gun. I would go with the A-bolt.

Everyboby has a different opinion I guess but for my money the Tikka T3 is an excellent rifle - accurate right out of the box. I just wish I hadn't wasted time getting my Rems to shoot well before I bought my Tikka LSS.
