The Super X Model 1 and Model 12 are great firearms. Its too bad that most of today's younger buyers know nothing at all about them. All steel , wood, hand fitted construction. Both were victims of great quality and increasing coats. It is said that Winchester never made a profit on any of the Super X Model 1 shotguns they made. They were all steel and wood ,with high quality build,so they sold for more then the Remington Model 1100 with its cheap stamped parts, with which it had to compete. The Super x Model 1 sold for about $75.00 more at the time.A lot of money back in the 1975 to 1981 era they sold in. From what I understand, only some where between 85,000 and 87,000 Super x Model 1 guns were manufactured.
The Model 12 was a well built shotgun. It is said ,that nobody ever wore out a Model 12.They were that well built.A little under ,2,000,000 were made between 1912 and 1963.
