Browning A5 magazine problem

Let me see if I can explain my problem.

This morning on a duck hunt I loaded my 1964 A5 and the speed-load function didn't work for starters.

So I put two up the magazine and manually loaded the chamber and closed the bolt.

After shooting the first duck, the gun ejected the empty but didn't load from the magazine. The next shell was 1/4 of the way out of the mag and jammed.

I tried to shove it back into the magazine but it wouldn't stay there.

We had to take the barrel off and open the magazine tube and empty the shells out that way.

I tried to reload again and same thing happened and I had to dismantle it again.

I shot it the rest of the morning as a single shot.

Is there a catch inside the mag tube that can break off? Do I take it to the gunsmith?

I bought this gun 2nd hand last year and it worked fine.

I shot some skeet with it this summer and it was having cycling problems and this magazine problem happened a couple times, but when I pushed the shell back up the mag it stayed.

Not any more.

I thought maybe it was a light load problem even though I had switched the ring for light loads. I've switched it back for heavy loads for the autumn.

Any suggestions?

You could spend a lot of time screwing around trying to determine what the problem is and trying to fix it, but during the hunting season, unless I had a spare, i'd get it to a good g'smith.

The magazine tube where the friction rings slide also needs lubrication. Failure to eject and jamming is a common malfunction due to lack of lubrication in this area.
