I have a Browning ABolt II Micro Hunter in 22 Hornet. I am wondering if there is a single shot adaptor available for this rifle? I have not been able to locate any makers on the internet. I use the rifle mainly in the gopher patch and I find the mag is a real pain to load.

Not sure if this better belongs in the Gunsmith section?

Anyway anyone have any ideas for me. Thanks. Oh and to not for sale!

Nope, no such thing as what you are looking for !
Not for sale, well I have a widget I'll trade you for it ;)

Seriously though , no idea what if they make the thing your looking for.
Will pay attention when the information is forth coming.

A bolts are push feed, so just drop one in the chamber and close the bolt on it......

Have you tried top loading the mag while it's still in the rifle?..... how is it a pain compared to other mag fed rifles?

Actually it's not a push feed like a Remington. It has a magazine that attaches to the inside of a hinge plate. It cannot be loaded from the top the magazine feed lips prevent it. They also prevent it being used as a single shot because the round gets caught up.

I have owner three A-Bolt II's.
One.243,.300 Winmag and a .22 Hornet and never really had any trouble feeding them via the top ejection port.
Sure the .22 Hornet is small, with fat fingers and makes it a challenge to load, but it can be done.
But, when the gophers are attacking ones position then I guess fat fingers scaled down ejection port and small cartridges loading can be challenging.

So, if you can not find the single shot adapter you are speaking of I'll take the .22 Hornet A-bolt off your hands.

Damn fine rifles those Browning A Bolts in 22 Hornet!
Got one myself that will have to be pried from my cold and dead hands. ;)

Truly sad that the newer X Bolt only comes in the 'smaller' 204 and 223. Never heard much great shakes regarding this newer Browning 204 and claims of accuracy.

very nice walnut though better than my A Bolt wood

It's still a push feed........ you should still be able to ignore the mag, drop one in the chamber and close the bolt on it......

I do get that it may not be "top loadable" though.......

Still think a single shot adaptor would make it slicker.

FL sorry but my 3 year old grandson has his name on my 22 H. He just doesnt know it yet. Nice try though.

Bru I have two XBolts. One in 204 one in 223 they are both very accurate as is out of the box. Like 1/2" 3 shot groups with the right loads

I bought a spare mag and attached the spring to a generic aluminum single shot follower. I ground it to fit like the original. Works pretty slick.

Or get a rifle with a mag that works or a spare mag you can pre-load? ......

cdn now we're talking! That's what I'm looking for. Where did you get the spare mag and follower?

Maybe I can make something out of Derlon. Just thought there might be something premade out there.

I ground the sides of the follower down to allow it to fit in like the original follower. It's pushed up with the original spring until it contacts the taper at the top of the mag. It was a slow process grinding away little bits until it sat at just the right spot.

This is what the inside looks like. I did this quite a while ago so I couldn't really remember what I'd done. I made the little aluminum plate, riveted it to the spring and then used a bedding material to bond the follower to the plate. Now that I see it I remember not being able to shape the follower correctly and so I angled the sides of the plate to hang up in just the right spot along the inside of the mag body.

Wow thanks for taking the time to respond and the pics cdn. I am sure not as handy as you but you have encouraged me to try. Once I finish my winter reloading and get back from a month of warmer temperatures. Thanks again!
