Would this style of semi-automatic shotgun be non-restricted in Canada provided that the barrel length was over 18.5" and overall length above 26"?

Ummm, are you asking "is it legal if it is manufactured that way"?
Or "legal if you shorted the barrel to the 18.5" length"?

If it were to be shortened from the original length, while still retaining a barrel length over 18.5" and overall length over 26".

According to the Criminal Code, a prohibited firearm is:

a firearm that is adapted from a rifle or shotgun, whether by sawing, cutting or any other alteration, and that, as so adapted,
is less than 660 mm in length, or
is 660 mm or greater in length and has a barrel less than 457 mm in length,

So you should be golden if you keep to those numbers.
This clause is stupid cause if it was a pump gun you can buy a shorter barrel, but cant make one.

looks like your going to build a zoot gun Clyde Barrows style
18.5 barrel length and 26 " over all and has to have both and if a bit over for good measure and all should be good

I want to cut one down AND get it rethreaded for chokes. (Different gun though)
Anyone know a smith that is setup for doing the threading?

It's not 18.5 and 26'' overall it's either one of them.

Sorry I believe you are incorrect...

to be non restricted it requires both a minimum barrel length of 18.5 inches and a minimum overall length of 26 inches.

I would add a quarter inch to those figures to be safe... (like what would happen if a moron officer decided the butt plate was removable and thus the overall length was too short)

Yup.
And going shorter then 18 doesnt make it restricted. It makes it PROHIB if you are cutting it down yourself. You can BUY the shorter barrel, but cutting it down yourself under 18" will make it prohib.

I did me '53 Auto 5 to 19" barrel and only took an inch off the butt. No complaints from the LEO's who shot 'er plus I whacked the 200 yd 12" gong 3 outta 5 shots on the same day. The ammo was 1oz Winchester slugs. That was fun.

The smaller beasty be me former Rossi RH 357 job.
