Browning BAR Bipod mount

I was thinking of putting a bipod on my 1968 Browning BAR, but ran into an odd thing.

The odd thing being the, let's call it a very thick washer, that sits on the forestock and which the screw for the sling mount travels through. This makes mounting a bipod impossible off this swivel.

There's not enough room to mount another swivel stud in front of the other.

I'm sure someone here has mounted a bipod to this type of gun and knows how to get around this. ;)

Thanks.

I used Harris bipods on my BARs. They will fit if you align the rectangular stud nut on the rifle to fit the slot in the bibod. Now I use the collapsible Stoney Point bipods. They can be used with any rifle and are lighter than the types that attach to the rifle.
