Hello !

I got BAR Mark II Safari which is 12 years old. Great shooter but there is a small issue - action does not lock open after the last round. Gent. I bought it from says it was like that from new and someone at the store told me it should lock open.
Should it lock open ? What could be the issue ? (It is not mag as I have another brand new one. Also I do not see any damage to the lock but it is clearly off the mag pin).

Does it have a bolt release on the side? If not, I am pretty sure its not supposed to lock open after the last round. The newer ones have bolt release levers, and do lock open after the last round. Cheers,

I could be wrong, but is not the magasine that holds the bolt open after it is out of bullets.

It is just a way of telling you, you are out of bullets. So you can put in another loaded magasine. And really get the deer to run fast.
 
It does have the bolt release button on the side and the small pin inside, which should be pushed by magazine. At is all set with only a small issue - magazine "push bar" does not allign with that small pin on the bolt release button by about 1/8 of an inch.
