Was looking at buying the browning bar mark III .308 semi auto and was wondering if anyone has this gun and has some reviews on it. With it being semi auto how is the accuracy and overall firing of the gun. Would anyone recommend this gun!!!

Ive got one....a Browning BAR mk3 Composite stalker in 308win. Brand spanking new...planning to shoot her this weekend. Will let you know. Points like a shotgun...feels nice in the hands.

As always for a BAR, fit and finish is excellent. Couldnt find a blemish. Ive got all 3 Mk's of BARs and this is the lightest yet. Heavier than advertised but shorter than advertised. Buttpad feels like cheap cushion but will probably work. Nicer profile than shorttracs and they got rid of the racy geometry. The gun profile just seems to "flow" nicer.

QD sling swivels...now Im not a big fan of these but Browning is sending me new ones due to the recall. Mine seem to stay put but Im not gonna risk it yet. Will post up pics when I get home.

I love the BARS, I've had alot of semis and the browning has always been more accurate than me. I have 2 at the moment, a longtrac 30-06 in the composite stalker and a shotrtrac 308 in the same model. Both pretty much the same ballistics. Haven't decided which one to move down the road yet but there's no rush. Decisions decisions

Here is a few pics I quickly snapped up. Feels much slimmer when side by side to the older BAR rifles. Missing is my oil-finish Longtrac and another Mk1 Type II.

Scope arrived on Friday. Got her setup and out we went yesterday. I only put in 16rds and she ran as expected, flawless. Got her sighted in at 200yrds so decided to back down to 100yrds and shoot a few 3 shot groups. Not enough shooting to show much of an average but does show potential. Temperature was 21 celsius and getting hotter as the day went so I was limited for time. I was shooting my recipe for Hornady 155gr Match BTHP with 3x fired brass. I was more about sighting her in than shooting groups but I thought what the heck why not? Results are below and I'm pretty happy. I dont think I'm going to change anything. Minus the bipod, she weighs 8.2 lbs with empty magazine. Not too bad. Thanks to a great CGN'r, the Bushnell Elite 4200 1.25-4x24 works well with her. Good for anything up to 300 yrds with my poor eyesight! Groups were shot with bipod in front and sandbag in rear with a somewhat stable table. Trigger feels the same as any BAR...to me more of a two stage. The recoil pad is ok....still feels like my older BAR's with the hard wooden buttpad. Overall I'm happy with her. Will have to do more shooting when it's cooler and see how she runs.

First group after sighting in. Barrel still warm. 30 seconds between shots.

After 10mins to cool down. Second group. 30 seconds between shots. Yes that's three shots there.
