looking for experienced opinions on these guns...With/without the BOSS system...does it really make a difference...are they accurate, do they jam (dependable)..I've been told that If I were to buy a semi rifle, the BAR is probably #1....And what are the asking price at the moment in canada..

Thanks,

William..

I had one a few year back. It was a beautiful looking rifle but kind of heavy. It was very accurate. I don't know anything about the BOSS system because the one I owned was a 1979 I believe. I traded it for my Garand and haven't really looked back.

By far, one of the best semi-auto sporting rifles made (steel receiver).
As for the BOSS system, it works, but most find the brake portion of it extremely loud in hunting conditions. Great from a bench with ear protection, but not many of us hunt from a bench. Most of the newer ones came with a "CR" adapter, which stands for Conventional Recoil.

I have one In 30-06 , steel reciever ,hammer forged barrel, still made by FN in Belgium and assembled in Portugal .
It shoots about 1 inch at 100yds right out of the box ( no Boss ) and with Factory win 150gr , recoil is about 40% less than a bolt action what is not to like ?

do you really need a recoil reducer on a heavy auto gun anyways?
When you add the word "magnum" it scares some people.:p
The BOSS was hyped as a barrel tuner, which it is/does. It basically adjusts harmonics to the round you're firing.

One of the most common firearm "tradeoffs", ranking right up there with "reduce bullet weight to increase velocity" and "smaller calibre, more [less effective ?] ammo can be carried"...:yingyang:
