Need to determine if I require a type 1 or type 2 butt stock for my 7mm.
I have a 7 mm remington mag serial 237RP which indicates it was manufactured in 1978.
I have a 243 serial 137PT which indicates it was manufactured in 1986.
From other sources on the internet they state that a type one butt stock was made for Bars 1976 and earlier and that I require a type two butt stock.
After looking at my butt stocks on both the 1978 and 1986 it appears a type 2 butt stock won't work as they both have the wood that extends into the receiver above the trigger. I'll attach images of both butt stocks. The 1986 has the browning emblem on the trigger guard. Any help would be appreciated as I have to order from the USA so I can't just look at the stock before purchasing. Ive reached out to some of the sellers in the USA and they aren't getting back to me. Type 2's are available but type 1's are hard to find.
