browning BAR

Not likely to be banned but who knows with the Lib mentality. What you should consider is whether you want a Mk 1 or the latest iteration. Parts are getting difficult to source for the originals and a used rifle will eventually need common wear items.

I bought some buffers, a spring and the spring guide rod and it was easy… some other parts are no more available! I can’t remember where I got the parts from, but it was suggested by some one here and it was in Canada!!

They were from me...
As for other items, the timing latch and timing latch pin are nearly impossible to find and your rifle will not work without them.

Hahaha I guess it was…. Too bad the parts are obsolete, such a great rifle and so easy to take appart and put together!

SO what is the future of the bar as a hunting rifle. Im considering buying one, will it also be banned?

Yes, eventually it will be banned. When? Who knows. If Wendy and her gang have their way, tomorrow. Buy it and enjoy it - life's too short to deny yourself such pleasures while they're still available. YMMV.

Take care

Go ahead and buy one and enjoy it. I had many and still got a few. Only needed to replace the action spring on one older Mk1 which has a minimum of 1k rds...prob closer to 2k. Parts are found in Canada and USA. NEVER had any parts breakage. Look for a decent shape BAR and you will be fine. I have all Mk's and no issues with any.

I just came here to say I don't own a BAR Mk. III in .270 Win and love it to pieces.

I wish them luck banning a non-restricted rifle, many of them now old enough to be "grandpa's rifle" in the back closet that won't see the light of day for decades at a time.

Buy one, hunt hard. Make them come kick your door down if they want to take it away.

Western Gun Parts had a decent selection of BAR parts a few years ago. Last time I bought any would have been about 6-7 years ago though...
