I've got a line on one of these and was wondering if anybody had any opinions on the BBR? I was thinking of getting a new Rem 700 BDL (in this calibre), but this BBR is over $250.00 less than Wholesale's price and although slightly used is in excellent shape.
Also, I'm wondering about the practical effectiveness of the 25-06. Seems to me it's an underrated round that easily challenges the more popular .243 and 6.5x55. I'm kinda torn between the 25-06 and the .257 Roberts.
Any thoughts, comments or (most importantly) hunting / shooting experience with this gun / calibre?

Cheers!

Terry

Monty if you do a search on the BBR about a month ago I looked at what may be the same gun, with good reviews it is very clean.
I think I know the gun you are refering to being from North Oshawa, and it looks like not to many rounds have been sent through this one!!!
PM me if your wondering.

I bought a 25-06 in a stevens to play around with and am impressed to say the least with the caliber and the rifle.Easy to shoot, almost no recoil and am getting great velocities out of a 22 inch barrel.Should be a fun deer gun,and is lots of fun at the range!!!I like the browning rifles, old and new!

I have several friends that shoot 25-06, mod 70,Weatherby Mark V,Rem and mine in a Stevens. We all killed our deer this season. I too like the low recoil. My next caliber is going to be a 7mm-08 which is also supposed to be a great low recoil caliber. I used factory Federal 115gr Nosler Partition cartridges and they worked very well in my gun. Another of my friends uses 85gr out of his heavy barrel 25-06 and he kills deer very effectively at very long ranges.FS

I have only handled one BBR and I much prefer it to the a-bolt.As for the 25-06 cartridge,it is as good of a cartridge as you can get for deer and smaller game.

I don't have any experience with the BBR, but have a 25-06 and love it. Easy to shoot well, and lots of range for deer on down.

75 V-max is fast and accurate out of mine, kind of addictive..........

For deer,I am still trying to get the 110 Accubond to shoot how I think it should. 117 BTSP Hornady shoots just awesome though.

I'm still some what new to rifles, ammo, and hunting. I was wondering about the availability of this caliber, cost and what is the next best thing?. By next weekend I'll be living in Lethbridge, and a friend from werk recomended this caliber to me, something about a good flat trajectory. Sorry for the noobieness but I gotta ask, and I'm still looking to purchase my hunting rifle. LOL
Thanks in advance

Basically the chambering of a rifle does not effect the cost in non magnum cartridges. In other words a 25-06 rifle will cost the same as a 270win rifle or a 30-06 rifle.Ammunition for the 25-06 is readily available at a reasonable cost as well.

I've had 3 25-06s, its really an awsome little round. I've never used it on deer but should be very similar the the 270 when useing proper bullets. I used it for varmits, and its one wicked varmit gun. 87 grers at 3600+ will do amazing things to small (25 lbs and under) critters. I quit varmit hunting many years ago as I could feel carma catching up.

25-06

Don't know about the BBR i have never owned one but i have a SS laminate Ruger and that gun shoots 115gr partitions very accurately and velocity is 3230fps, took a black bear with it last year with great results and bullet performance.
