Where does the Browning Safari bolt action rifle fit into the lineup of offerings from Browning in terms of quality and time of manufacturing
Many junk synthitic rifles are purchased and utilized today over great quality arms.
Best bolt actions ever sold over the counter. Made from 1959 to 1974. Avoid late 1967 to 1971 ( 7L 12345 to 12345 L71) with California Claro walnut stocks due to high likelihood of salt in wood.Where does the Browning Safari bolt action rifle fit into the lineup of offerings from Browning in terms of quality and time of manufacturing
Had one pencil barrel, sako short action, lovely rifle. Around 7 1/4 lbs scoped.Well, there were the pencil-barrel Browning Safaris made on the Sako L579 and L461 actions that ran 6.5 to 6.75 lbs.
They were made before the L Sako action ones. Im thinking SAKO also made the mauser short actions but may be mistaken. There was also a Browning Safari with a small ring Mauser action and the pencil barrel. A Mauser - not a round topped Sako.
Our hunting camp has a number of BBRs, I personally have a 25-06, 300 Win mag, a short action 7mm 08 and 2 rebarelled ones , a 264 win mag and a 7x61 S&H. They are some of my favourite rifles.Think of the bbr as a Abolt and a Safari had a kid. Perhaps Grandfather and father of the abolt. Weight, Browning gloss finish of the Safari, with the changes to the bolt, safety, and adding the hinged floorplate/detachable magazine of the Abolt. Heavy, solid rifles that for some reason don't have a cult following, but should. Believe the Abolt came out about 1980, so without looking, I'm thinking 75-85ish vintage.
In the world of Justinflation, polymer, and MIM. You did well.
Preferring he "aesthetics" of a particular rifle is literally the szme as "I like it better".How does one quantify "vastly superior" to say an X-bolt, in any way but asthetically?

When I like something, it's all about superior aesthetics. When I don't like something but somebody else does, then it's just their (silly) opinion.Exactly!

Yes I owned one in .308. Like a dumb ass I sold it.There was also a Browning Safari with a small ring Mauser action and the pencil barrel. A Mauser - not a round topped Sako.
