Just wondering if anyone has any reviews, and/or comments on the BLR 30-06... one thing that I have decided on is not to get the takedown model due to scope issues. Anything else to know?

I love em, they are a different breed of lever, thats for sure. My friend who lives by them, got a little jaded with his BLR in .30-06 this year out moose hunting. They came upon a bull via snowmobile, and his rifle got all jammed up with snow/ice in the action.
Had his friend not had a rifle too, they would have lost the animal for sure.
Now he's considering selling it to get a Thompson single. I think I might have to snap it up and even talk him into selling it (as a good friend should do!!)
I hear good things about the takedown models, I hear they are good at not losing zero. All reviews I have read say it was much better than expected. Regardless, the very next rifle I will own is a BLR and definately in .30-06.

They are a superb rifle, as accurate as an out of the box bolt gun, even available in 300W.M. I wish they would build some in 338W.M. like the BAR

Is there any issues with the older steel receiver vs the newer alloy ones? any pros or cons? I know there isa following for the older models.
