There's been a bit of a surge of interest for the 284 win lately on this forum. Might have to start a 284 win fan club. lol.
Please do.... I suggest that a good place for it is in the middle of the 270 thread.....

Anything but 270In short action the 284, in a long action they are equal. Hows that! So, 284 vs 270, which is better?
A brace of 284 lever actions would look great on the wall. After that you will just have to go for the Triple Crown and pick up a 284 Winchester Model 88.
Yes Dan that would be pretty good wouldn't it. I think the 88 in 284 would be a bit of a hens tooth.

I have a mod 88 in 284, mine is in rough shape though.I had a mint Mod. 88 in 284, functioned as smooth as a watch but it was the worst shooting rifle I have ever had, still have boxes of brass & loads somewhere.
However, it is the fastest selling rifle that I have ever parted with..
I may have some brass kicking around if you get stuck for brass in the future and with a .358Win and a .284Win already, you are well on your way to a nice complete BLR81 all caliber's collection.

I have never fired my mod 88, its just sitting in my safe. lol. I have a savage 99 as well, mine is a 308 win. The savage is accurate, it surprised me actually. I've heard that the 99 is more accurate than the 88 on average, don't know if thats true or not.Mine was absolutely mint, the previous owner had never hunted it.
The only bullet it would shoot to any degree of accuracy was the 115 gr. Speer.
It was hugely disappointing for me when it wouldn't shoot accurately as I am very fond of Win. 88s as well as Savage 99s.

Well,...I guess the Model 88 in .284 isn't as much of hens tooth as I thought,..lol.
I saw two at the Brandon gun show last week end. I forgot what they were priced at.
Has anyone owned a BLR that actually fit properly?
