WTF?

I was expecting a nice short packable hunting rifle.... this, this is something that I would expect from mossberg cp:

Looks weird with the wood stock. Kinda like something the Borg would use. I much prefer the stainless take down version. With the laminate stock, it's just ###y.

Would be nice if it would have a peep sight system and hopefully most of the rails and flash hider are removable. There takedown version is one of the best being simple

I actually don't mind some of it...
The takedown is handy.
The black is OK but I prefer stainless.
The Stock is nice.
The short barrel is entertaining.
The multiple scope rails are workable- I could remove the one I don't use.
The caliber I can live with but might choose another if options were available.
But the side rails and flash hider are horrible.
No thanks, especially considering the MSRP...

The side rail and the flash hider are useless, but I think the other rails are a good idea. I had a takedown BLR set up with rails on both receiver and barrel like that, and it was a fantastic hunting rifle. I had a scout scope and a regular scope set up in QD rings, both sighted in and ready to mount depending on the task at hand. That was one versatile, compact, easy-to-pack gun...they can't all be classics. Once you get over the belly-aching about how it's not a "real" lever gun, you realize just how practical a flat-sided, detachable-mag, fast-cycling rifle like this is.

Don't forget: this was state-of-the-art assault weaponry only a century-and-a-quarter ago!

You think Browning would have remembered the lesson Colt learned back in the 60's, 3 prong muzzle brakes get hung up in vegetation. Or maybe I am looking at this the wrong way, those 3 prongs may just be "Mini" bayonets in keeping with the Mossberg "Para-Military" look.

I agree it is dreadfully ugly but think about places where you can hunt hogs at night and there might be some purpose to all the rails (e.g. NVG / illumination).

I don't usually think of a lever action for this type of shooting but I suppose it could do the job if for some reason an AR10 or similar wasn't feasible.
